All those who missed the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018, here is a glimpse of the fashion parade.
Day 1
The evening on the hot Mumbai day began with lights lit on the most astonishing gen next show. Mohammed Mazhar’s ‘Dhobighat’ collections that walked the ramp first with summer sensibility featuring Khadi cotton and silks that created the feel of an indolent summer day. The next highlight was Rara Avis by Sonal Verma who showcased her growing skills with layered sequins, fringed leather jewellery, bags and maxi dresses that made up the stage along with cacti effect. The show closed its curtains to Mira and Shahid Kapoor with Anita Dongre’s ‘songs of summer’.
Day 2
Moving next to the sustainable fashion day where Lakme showcased the evolution of fashion with changing times that made the whole crowd dress differently this day. The show was enriched with Hemang Aggarwal’s occasional wear designs done in traditional Indian fabrics. The day’s biggest show was by the veteran designer whose motive was only to create sustainable clothing that isn’t anti-fit. Pratap Singh brightened the show by his stunning design works with blends of the yarn with silk and steel in various weaves. The second day of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018 bridged the United Nations and the designers from the northeast of the country.
Day 3
Monica Shah and Karishma Swli’S ‘Amoh by Jade’ filled the walks with easy fitting silhouettes from dhoti pants and skirts to feather-light jackets in soft, supple fabrics. Falguni Shane Peacock always drags the floor gazing gowns to the stage. The ramp witnessed Sonakshi Sinha with the curve defining corset, blazer and billowing trousers. The Woolmark company joined hands with Manish Malhotra to showcase their traditional wear made using natural and biodegradable fibre. The show ended with Tarun Tahiliani and his celestial collection.
Day 4
The husband and wife designer duo Sonam and Paras Modi’s brought the most stunning Dhalia on the stage of their finest design works. Payal Singal’s collection Saira brought to the stage an Islamic touch with her antique embroidery, filigree and jaali works. What really happens when visual artist Princess Pea and contemporary label Lovebirds come together at the walk? They bought on stage the school girl perfection look with playful polka dots, gossamer frocks, sweet bows and poplin cords with pyjama like a charm. The highlight of the show was Saif Ali Khan awarding a medal of honour to a fellow female model.
Day 5
The sustainable day was more flooded with astonishing summer costumes with tons of yellow, pink and blue. The Sweta Tantia’s Tahweave was the first to set the stage on fire on the last day of Lakme’s Fashion Week Summer Resort 2018. The biggest star of the day was Kareena Kapoor Khan who walked for Anamika Khanna’s grand finale with a stunning black sari.
