In the fast paced and short-lived lifetime slash market of the smartphone, being current is a constant challenge. A smartphone needs to be very, very clever to successfully establish itself in a world with too many smartphone options. Huawei’s Honor is a pretty new contender in the field but we love how it’s arrived – pushing itself steadily on with very noteworthy phones last year, the Honor 5X and the Honor 8. This year, it’s one of the first companies to have released a new smartphone in the Indian market (originally announced last year). This time it’s a budget phone under its flagship line, Honor and it’s called the Honor 6X.
Dubbed as the phone with ‘SWAG’, I believe this phone is built for the technology-loving millennial, and I’ll tell you this is the perfect phone for a young adult.
The first factor of course, will be the price. The 3 GB RAM, 32 GB ROM version of the phone is available for Rs. 12,999 and the 4 GB RAM. 64 GB ROM for Rs. 15,999. This is a good price for a phone with its specifications, like the very fancy dual camera set-up which we’ve seen on the P9 and the Honor 8, this time with a really wide aperture range. And the 3,340 mAh battery that powers the powerful phone for almost two days thanks to its power management technologies. And the 2.5D curved glass panel and the 5.5 display with crisp visuals and colours.
The phone is a Dual SIM phone with one slot that doubles as a micro SD slot, meaning you have expandable storage, but at the cost of a second SIM, which is not too bad. Let’s take a moment to talk about the camera, which is one of the best camera performances from a phone in its segment. The phone is equipped with a dual-lens camera with plethora of features and shooting modes and a very smart shutter release button function for the fingerprint sensor behind, making it perfect for selfies.
What I love about the phone is also its design. It is a really pretty phone, with its sleek metallic finish and very slim bezels. I also like that it looks unique, unlike most phones in the market apart from its predecessors, which is a breath of fresh air where phones are concerned. It is a well designed phone that you will want to show off, slim enough to fit in your hand even though it is on the large side. The curved edges add to the very classy aesthetics of the phone, so though it may be budget, it certainly is not boring. And I love that it is not just black and white, but come in the trending metallic colours.
The bottom line is that the Honor 6X is a good example of targeting done right, with every feature of the phone (style, social media tools, camera, price, performance, storage, battery etc.) fitting the ‘Swag’ needs of the market it is aimed at. This Swag Phone will up your cool quotient by a significant deal.
