For those of you who missed day 4 of the Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017, you missed a whole bunch of stars clad in absolutely gorgeous ensembles made by icons of the fashion world. Here’s a recap of the day’s highlights:
The day started on a really high note with Karisma Kapoor gracing the ramp for Arpita Mehta’s collection illustrating with ease how the oh so comfortable bohemian look can be made red-carpet ready. This white palazzo pants-crop top ensemble is so wearable we can’t wait till it hits store shelves.
The second ‘moment of the day’ was when internationally acclaimed model, cookbook author and TV personality Padma Lakshmi stole the show for Tarun Tahiliani in two very regal ensembles from his bridal wear collection ‘Chashme Shahi’, inspired by Mughal gardens and architecture. The collection had a very Indian feel to it with crystal studded lehengas, elegant sarees in colours picked for the quintessential romantic.
Day 4 also demonstrated once more that fashion could be a lot of fun, as seen in Sonal Verma’s collection ‘Abacus’. This collection was made for the summer with light fabrics in bright, lively colours like reds and blues and fuschias and yellows. Indian supermodel Urvashi Rautela looked stunning in the collection in yet another crop top-palazzo pants ensemble, showing us yet again that the trend is definitely going to be huge this year.
Other designers whose collections we also really dig are Saviojon Fernandes and Nupur Kanoi. Saviojon Fernandes had a crazy resort-wear collection that was very interesting due to his choice of fabrics and textures which he mixed up collage style for some artsy pieces that are anything but ordinairy. Nupur Kanoi’s collection had African and tribal elements with lots of beadwork, earthy colours and tie-dyed fabrics for the edgy boho chic with a flair for luxury.
The other showstopping celebrities for the day were Pernia Quereshi who represented Pinakin’s Champagne collection and Aditi Rao Hydari who left the audience speechless in a royal black and gold lehenga-choli ensemble from the “Romance of Kotwara” collection by Sama, Meera and Muzaffar Ali.
What we loved best about day 4 and the designers who presented their collections was that a lot of the ensembles we saw were very wearable and we’re totally inspired for the rest of the season. We also loved the seamless fusion of western and Indian outfits- perfect for the modern woman. We’ll be back tomorrow with updates on day 5.
