The New Year is always a good time for fashion addicts because it’s the time for some new fashion trends of the year to make their first public appearance after the runway and specially when the Lakme Fashion Week going on. If you’re dying to stay ahead of the game and be the first to rock the new looks, here’s a list of what’s going to be hot this year. Take notes and have fun shopping!
Stripes
Stripes can never really go out of fashion, but this year, they’re bigger, bolder and virtually everywhere! Tops, bottoms you name it. Nautical stripes reign supreme on items you’ve never imagined before. You may even be able to take the chilled out summer trend to a formal outfit with the range of possibilities. So yes. Hold on to those stripey shirts.
Shirt Dresses
The timeless shirt dress is back too, but not in the way you think. If you want to pack a punch with your shirt dresses this year, try thinking outside the box and having fun with creating a new outfit. Imagine layers, asymmetrical hemlines, statement accompanying pieces. It’s flexibility on a new different level altogether.
Sporty Fashion
Athleisure is one of our favourite trends to have ever happened in 2016, and thankfully it’s not going away either. This year the designers have taken it up a notch with luxury labels coming out with athletic inspired silhouettes and prints. Think chic joggers with stilettos. Athluxury to the next wedding? We don’t really mind.
Pink
Pink is set to be the colour of the year with designers all over the world putting out bold monochromatic looks in this vibrant colour out on the runway. It’s a lot like last year’s nude monochromatic look, but so much more striking (pink is so not a neutral colour). It’s a great way to add spark to your work wear. Think pink is too bold for you? Try out an item in blush (the neutral pink). You’ll never hate pink again.
Platforms
It’s the time for platforms. Again. Bigger and badder than all its former reincarnations. We’re thinking 70’s platforms on hallucinogens. In all shapes and colours. This is definitely a fun trend to play with, especially if you’re the braver type. A safer yet very chic 2017 option would be the kitten heel.
Slogan Tees
Want to make sure you turn heads at the next fashion event? Do it with a slogan like the big brands. Activist chic is very in this year with big labels producing T-shirts with slogans that will make you feel. This one trend you can probably DIY. Get a white shirt and your favourite cause and do them the honour?
