Ramada Amritsar – Review

Ramada Exterior

If there is any way to quickly describe the Ramada Amritsar, it would be to compare it to a palace. A 19th century style property, complete with an atrium that would make the perfect ballroom. This edition of the Ramada, located in the heart of Amritsar, is a 4-star hotel with personality – lots and lots of it, splendidly displayed within its walls.

Location

Strategically a neighbour of the majestic Golden Temple, the Ramada is a very pretty building in its own right, especially to stand in close proximity to Amritsar’s main attraction. Its interiors are well done up with a lot of luxurious, wood detailing and a gold-heavy colour scheme that makes you feel like you’re within royal premises. We absolutely loved the plush blue and gold carpet that makes the bedrooms look very regal indeed. Even the furniture chosen in all the rooms of the hotel will make you feel like you’re in a heritage building and that too, not in contemporary times.

Rooms

The Ramada Amritsar is a rather big hotel with 149 guest rooms, and what this hotel is perfect for, is a very grand party. With 7000 sq ft of area solely dedicated to banquet space in its two perfectly named indoor banquet halls, Monte Carlo and Casablanca, and an outdoor hall called La Colonnade, this hotel is the ultimate place for your big fat Indian wedding.

Restaurants

Since we’re already talking weddings here, the restaurant in the hotel is again another reason that makes the Ramada the wedding place you should be considering very seriously. Dining at the Ramada is a pleasant experience in its multi-cuisine restaurant, Al Fresco that serves ala carte specials prepared in front of your eyes in its live kitchen. Al Fresco serves local Punjabi specialities as well as oriental and continental favourites leaving you with a large menu to choose from. Another place to eat in the hotel is its coffee house, Kaffee Avanti, which serves European tea time treats and is a great place for a cuppa and a conversation.

Activities

One of the Ramada’s star attractions that became a favourite of ours is the terrace pool. It is the best place to unwind in the evening, or even to catch an early morning swim (and of course, for a chilled out party post your wedding chaos). We love how it overlooks the city and lets you relax in your bubble, so far from where the bustle will be.

Facilities

A night at the Ramada starts at about INR 4000, and your time and money there is going to be well spent thanks to its services and facilities, like 24 hour WiFi, the fitness centre etc. What we would highly recommend it for though, has to be it’s location as people mostly visit Amritsar for Golden Temple as it’s 2 mins walk from the hotel to the Golden Temple. Not only that its spacious and potential as a venue for your special dos. For one thing, it makes the perfect set for photographs. We thought that it is the best hotel in Amritsar in this budget.
