The Vogue Wedding Show 2016

Last weekend was a glamorous one, with The Vogue Wedding Show 2016 fourth edition, held over the 5th, 6th and 7th of August and for us, it was a weekend well spent, with what the show brought to the table (or should we say shelves) this year.

This year’s exhibition with an ‘invites only’ guest list, was held at the Taj in the national capital and it was a luxurious affair. The hotel’s corridors were glittering with excited brides and aunties, crazy mother-daughter-fiancé trios that were scouring the collections for the one (or more) outfit to make their big day extra glam. There were a few Bollywood stars too, brightening the event as much as the sequins on the sarees being sold.

The show is a well curated selection of about 40 luxury designers who showcased their best made-to-measure bridal wear. Indian wedding wear is our take at haute couture and we saw the best of Indian designers like Anita Dongre, Rohit Bahl, Manish Malhotra etc., coming up with the best of clothes for the 2016 Indian Bride.

What’s really nice about this show is that it is a complete package. The event had wedding planners, wedding makers and jewellery stores, making it a one stop shop for your big day.

We recently got a look-see at the 2016 Indian Bride with the Indian Couture Fashion Week that got over last month and we were already feeling inspired by the designs that we saw. With the Vogue Wedding Show, we got to see more of such elegance at a closer range and we could purchase the clothes too, which many people did.

Among the many designers who rocked the show, the headliners were Anita Dongre who is a wedding wear specialist with her craftsy styles, Manish Malhotra with his signature style bending silhouettes and designs, Payal Singhal with her chic, feminine patterns and cuts, Sabyasachi, with his classic Indian weaves, prints and colours, Shantanu and Nikhil with their effortless fusions to name a few. The jewellery stores also presented some amazing pieces that got our eyes welling up from the sparkle and the beauty. There were other off beat collections like Ahujasons who showcased their lovely handwoven shawls (perfect wedding gifts?) and even mixology classes, for some behind the counter entertainment at weddings.

It was a good three days of socialising, learning and buying with all the stalls and the things put together and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit with what the show had to offer. And with wedding season just around the corner, we can’t help looking forward to seeing our Delhi brides dazzle. It looks like it’s going to be a glamorous year!
