Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016 Day 1
Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016 Day 1 started with a bang. Manish Malhotra raised the curtains with Arjun Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez showcasing his spring summer collection.
Earth, water, wind and fire dominated his collection. Other awe-inspiring details of the show follow:
Gen Next Show
The five very talented young fashion designers, Naveen, Sohaya, Chirag Nainani, Aqdus and Agrima from the INIFD Gen Next made a fantastic show with playful textures which gave summer a flavorful twist. The designs ranged from Japanese influences at Sohaya Misra’s collection to Islamic cuts and structures at Aqdus Saleem. Naveen Naaz Shaikh show cased fun picnic strips.
Agrima Batra’s resort-wear was no less impressive and Chirag Nainani’s indigo prints were just amazing. They had covered Indian traditional versus the modern era.
Pinakin Patel
With models wearing wearing heavily embroidered lehengas and posing on swings the Pinakin collection was dream like. Architect, interior designer, artist, and now fashion designer, Pinakin Patel’s collection was breath taking. The organza fabric with chiffon and net looked very classy.The color were serene- oyster and tangerine with pale pink and grass green. Hair accessories looked spectacular with the the attires.
Frou Frou
‘Petticoat’ collection designed by the label Frou Frou by designer Archana Rao is inspired by fictional character, Lolita, an effortless and carefree character, coming of age. Outer wear inspired by inner wear is the idea behind the collection and it was flattering to see the models walk on the ramp in the “petticoat collection’.
Quirkbox
With fun prints of house items, the breezy clothes looked impressive. The prints were looked effortless on the fabric completely justifying the shoe title ‘This is not fashion’.
Sahil Kochhar
Sahil Kochhar’s collection titled ‘Sangamar-mar’, showcased very beautiful natural prints. The transparent fabric was very pleasing to the eyes with the mix of colors. The floral and the geometric pattern together totally staled my heart away.
Sneha Arora
Sneha Arora’s show with the title Find Your Wild was spectacular. The attires were themed for self-dependent women who love androgynous look. The animal line drawing fell on the fabric quite meticulously. The sexy and classy designs were hard to not be admired.
Surendri
The Surendri collection by Yogesh Choudahry named ‘Mithu’ had rich ethnic embellishments, parrot prints galore. Indian wear in black, white and cream colors was extremely classy. Other colors like green and red gave the Indian chic look to traditional wear.
Anand Kabra
This year Anand Kabra showcased the traditional Indian weddings. The white and gold kurtas, jackets with shararas, floral embroidered pyjamas, mirror work blouses and glittering lehengas were a treat to the eyes. The versatile collection that comprises of Indian sarees and western skirts was also very impressive.
