“Mirror mirror on the wall, who has the most beautiful tresses of them all ?”

Behold…your long hair prayers are about to be answered!

If you want your hair to be super long, check out these 9 Easy Tips For Growing Your Hair Long:

Love thy Trim:

One of the major factors playing a spoilsport when you are trying to grow long healthy locks are- you guessed it right! Split-ends! Spit-ends can travel up the entire length of the hair can result in hair getting thinner and might eventually prevent them from growing beautifully. A regular visit to your stylist and getting a trim every few months can help you get rid of dry and damaged tips. Just because you are trying to grow your hair and not getting a trim might cost you on the long run.

Gush the Brush:

Though over-brushing your hair is bad, brushing your growing glory before you go to sleep is essential. Doing this will help keep them naturally moisturized, healthy as well as shiny by spreading your scalp’s natural oils across your strands. An important point here is to brush from your tips to roots. This will reduce the stress to the roots and eventually prevent hair fall due to breakage. A Boar bristle brush might come in handy as these are the most gentle on your hair.

Towel Turban – No please!

If long hair is on your mind, say no to towel turbans. The friction generated by the towel can lead to breakage and weakening of roots. Especially the tighter turbans. An alternate for this would be a microfiber towel or a simple cotton T-shirt to gently pat dry your hair.

Kudos to Conditioner, Shampoo can wait

Often due to our busy schedules, we skip the conditioner after the shampoo routine thinking it’s not that necessary, since you already cleaned your hair with shampoo. Right? Wrong! Though it’s fine to skip the shampoo, but not the conditioner. Conditioner plays an essential part in nourishing back the strands after they have been left high and dry by the shampoo. As far as shampooing is concerned, it’s important to remember to not do it too often as it interferes with your scalp’s pH balance and leads to drying of hair.

Extra Care leads to Long Hair

A bit of care goes a long way in protecting your crowning glory. The hair at shoulder level and beyond is typically old and deserves to be taken care of. You can do a lot more beyond the normal routine of shampooing and conditioning- like a hydrating mask or an oil treatment. In case of a mask, leave it on

for 10 minutes and see the difference. For an oil treatment, you can either use a concoction of various or individual oils such as almond, coconut, olive or jojoba oils. In case you are wondering, it’s not necessary to leave on the oil overnight. You can simply apply some on your damp strands for 10 minutes before shampooing and conditioning. This will help avoid the residues left behind by oils when left overnight and which require repeated shampooing to wash off.

Softer pillow cases please

At the end of a tiring day at work, we often toss and turn repeatedly in our sleep. All this adds to stress on your strands leading to friction and hair breakage. We often choose to ignore this thinking it’s a onetime affair ignorant to the fact that this might of because of the pillow. Cotton and other fabrics are usually harsh on the hair. Opt for something softer like satin which is gentle and smooth for hair. Needless to say, this will prevent your hair from weakening and eventually will grow stronger. Also, welcome frizz free hair!

No Hot Showers!

Hot showers are very harsh for hair and they end up losing all their moisture in the process. So, what should you do? An alternative would to end your showering session with a cold-water rinse in the end. This will lock in moisture and help the hair remain healthy.

Stop the Torture

We often end up battering our hair without even realizing. Some common crimes are – Brushing your hair carelessly, tying your hair super-tight and torturing them with excessive heat styling and chemicals. Pamper your hair with a head message or hot oil message every now and then to increase circulation to your scalp and strengthen the roots and say hello to long and shiny beautiful hair!

Eat Healthy

Last but not least, opt for a healthy lifestyle. The condition of your hair is a fair indicator of your health. Eat lots of protein, zinc and iron which are essential for healthy hair growth and to prevent hair fall. Taking vitamin supplements along with good food goes a long in improving your overall health as well as giving you long lustrous hair!
