Top Fashion Designers in Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016
As the Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016 (LFW) is starting tomorrow, the five-day event will bring together the best of Indian and international talent to celebrate fashion at the St. Regis hotel in Mumbai. Organized twice annually with events in the spring/summer and autumn/winter, Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2016 is jointly organised by cosmetic brand Lakme, the No.1 cosmetics and beauty services brand in India and IMG Reliance, the global leader in sports and entertainment event marketing and management. With a vision of redefining the future of fashion and integrating India into the global fashion map the LFW has marked it’s second decade.
The featured designers for 2016 include the likes of Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal, Anita Dongre, Monisha Jaising and Rahul Mishra. A total of 90 designers are going to display their collections on the runway. LFW will be redefined at this five-day event with all the celebrated designers. Wendell Rodricks will present the heritage of Indian textile in a contemporary way. He will be showcasing 20 iconic garments, re crafted for modern wearability. Priyangsu Maji and Sweta Tantia will be showcasing ‘FEMMES di TAHITI’, their upcoming collection. The collection is influenced by tahitian print with an eclectic French Polynesian flavour. Gaurang Shah will be showcasing his collection ‘Calico’. Calico is his homage to the printed, cotton fabric which originated from Calicut in the 11th century. Last year he did an extensive collection of saris primarily ornate saris, showcasing rich textiles and intricate weaves. This time around he is going to be quite different. ElektroCouture, a Berlin-based label will also be making their Indian debut at the Lakme Fashion Week. They have brought fashion and technology together with their electronic wearable technology. Another exciting news is that for the first time LFW will be launching a new skin care range, along with make-up.
The 50-year-old, Bollywood’s ace fashion designer, Manish Malhotra will open the season. He says the collection will be based on elements of nature with pretty colours.
While Kareena Kapoor an Gaurav Guota closed Lakme Fashion Week 2015, this year Rohit Bal will be closing the event, as the grand finale designer of the event. The last time Rohit Bal brought the curtains down was in 2012, and now he is back with a bang.
