Amazon India Fashion Week SS/2016 Round Up

After the London Fashion Week, India celebrated fashion in style with the most illustrious runway platform to showcase country’s top designer’s collection at the Amazon India Fashion Week. The whole show was a mixed bag of innovative designs by all the different designers exploring Indian fashion. The 2016 Spring/Summer collection showed us different colours of India, which was a mix of tradition and modernity.

The inaugural show was of designer Sanjay Garg, which had live singing and also we spotted actress Soha Ali Khan, who wore Sanjay’s creation on her wedding reception, accompanied by Konkana Sen and Mini Mathur.

The Grand Finale was no less, the theme revolved around ‘The Banaras Project – Crafts of India’. The top 16 designers used Banarasi weave to support traditional Indian textiles. Each of the 16 designers Rohit Gandhi & Rahul Khanna, Manish Arora, JJ Vallaya, Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani, Malini Ramani, Ashish N Soni, Rajesh Pratap Singh, Abhishek Gupta, Gauri & Nainika, Alpana & Neeraj, Abraham & Thakore, Anupamaa Dayal, Namrata Joshipura, ATSU and Arjun Saluja presented 3 ensembles inspired by Banaras in the tones of red, yellow, blue, cream, green and black, each telling their Banaras story.

The show had it all – music, dance, style and drama. It was indeed a grand finale with all the top leading designers showcasing their best work keeping in mind the rich heritage of India. The wait has started for the next year show, until then stay stylish!
