The California Boulevard – Review
In this fast blurred lane of life, it’s very difficult to find any space to breathe. We are always bound to our desk, day in and day out. In this busy work routine, stress and the struggle to move forward, we all need a moment for ourselves and forget about the busy work life.
At the end of the busy day, there comes a time when you just want to break free and cut loose from all the strings that keeps you engaged all day long. That time around you just want to be with someone, with whom you can sit back, have a drink or two, laugh and live your heart out.
And a place like that is California Boulevard, where you can just relax, talk, drink and of course enjoy cuisines from more than 30 countries. It’s a great combination of tropical ambience and cuisines over 250 types. The whole restaurant will give you a Hollywood experience, with all the actors, singers posters running through the walls just like the box office poster adverts and a sparkling Harley Davidson displayed at the entrance. The ambience will give a feeling of a coast, which will be stronger after you order the food.
The restaurant is American not only by the name but also the portions that they serve, people like us with less appetite can only end up eating starters and no main course. Every table is welcomed by a Bread basket, it’s a great way to catch up on the serving time.
In starters we had Crispy Nachos with fresh salsa, cheese and sour cream on top. Second in line was Dilli Ki Chaat, every person living in Delhi must have eaten it once but here it was served with a twist. The papdi was made from a spinach leaf with tamarind sauce, mint sauce and yogurt over it. It was light and crisp, perfect to set up a base for our appetite.
After setting up the base we had Quesadilla, the famous Mexican dish. It’s basically refried beans and cheese tortillas which is served with salsa and sour cream. Next came was Bruschetta, most loved Italian appetiser. Its rich topping included Artichoke, rocket, tomato and cheese on a garlic bread. My favourite was the next Spicy Mushroom Dumplings, it was perfectly cooked mushrooms with absolutely thin covering. It was a delight to my palate.
Shifting our taste buds to non veg, we had Peri Peri Crispy Chicken. Being a spice lover, I personally enjoyed the hot and fiery taste with chipotle mayo dip. Next was Chicken Satay, these were chicken strips on skewers served with warm peanut dip.
What we had next was a unique concept of serving fish fingers made with beer batter, making the outer cover crispier and fish more tender.
Drinks were a must with such a scrumptious meal, so we ordered for Harley and TCB Wild Liquid. These are the signature cocktails just served at California Boulevard.
We summed up our meal with a Chilled Blueberry Soup. It’s a concept created by their in house Chef Karen Rawat, we found it quite unique and delicious and lastly to end the evening we relished the Chocolate Fondue Blast.
